Foster local paws.

Save local paws.

Companion Animal Control does not adopt out animals to the public, instead we partner with local rescues. After animals have completed their stray hold, they need a foster home to care for them while they search for a new forever home.

That’s where you come in! Opening your home to a local animal means you are giving that animal a chance at a new life.

Steps to becoming a foster

  1. Complete the Foster Inquiry Form below to let us know which pet you are interested in fostering, then we can tell the rescue to be on the lookout for your application.

  2. Fill out a foster application with one of our rescue partners listed on this page, then the rescue will be in contact with you as they process your foster application.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: What if I want to adopt the animal, instead of fostering?

A: We do not adopt out to the public, but you can request a “foster to adopt” process from the rescue partner.

Q: What if I have questions after I submit my application to the rescue?

A: All communication regarding fostering should be directed to the rescue.

Q: Can I meet the animal at the impound before applying to foster?

A: No, for liability reasons we do not allow foster visits at the impound. Instead, rescues have intake coordinators that meet animals within our impound locations on a regular basis. They access the animal’s behavior and determine which foster homes would be the best fit for that animal.
